The gut is in contact with a complex environment with changing conditions, nutrients, and bacterial communities. The gut microbiome, is normally commensal, but imbalances can lead to inflammation and behavioural changes. I am an assistant professor at the department of molecular biology and genetics, Aarhus University, using the zebrafish as a model for neuroimmune interactions. The goal of my lab is to shed light on the interactions between bacteria, immune and enteric nervous system.
